A one vehicle accident early Monday morning in Northern Gage County injured the driver of a truck hauling livestock.
According to a press release from the Gage County Sheriff’s office, a Peterbilt Semi hauling cattle was westbound on East State Highway 41, just east of Highway 77, when the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled onto the driver’s side. The truck came to rest off the roadway in the ditch on the southwest side of the highway.
The driver, identified as 22-year old Jaxon B. Jacobs of Unionville, Missouri, sustained injuries from the accident and was transported to Bryan LGH West in Lincoln by Clatonia Rescue. His injuries were not considered life threatening.
The trailer hauling the cattle had to be cut open to rescue the livestock trapped inside.
Air bags did not deploy and seatbelts were apparently not in use. Speed is suspected to be the cause of the accident, which occurred shortly after 5:30 Monday morning.
